About this listen

There are about 40,000 women behind bars in Brazil, a country that has the third largest prison population in the world. The Covid-19 pandemic added more challenges for women in prison and egresses, many struggling with unemployment and poverty. To support women, and give them a better start after prison, the Igarapé Institute created the “Partners of Liberty” project, with the support from the Australian government.
