In dieser Zeit lernen die Aspirant*innen alles, was es braucht, um selbst ein Tram durch die Stadt Zürich zu steuern. Begleitet werden sie dabei unter anderem von Elton Paixão. Als Betriebsausbilder erteilt er den Neulenker*innen Theorie- und Fahrunterricht im ersten Monat ihrer Ausbildung.
