 On May 18th, 2024, I attended the Asphalt Cowboys Pancake Breakfast, the largest outdoor community breakfast in the United States. The event started in 1954 during Rodeo Week in Redding, California. It began small, serving about 700 people, and then grew to over 1,000 participants by the late 1950s. The Cowboys, who organized the breakfast, initially used borrowed equipment from different sources, including the Sheriff's Department, local churches, and residents of Redding.
