  • S4E3 - Writing & The Birth of History
    Sep 17 2025

In this wide-ranging chapter of Art of the Covenant, Eric asks how the words we choose shape the worlds we live in. From free speech anxieties and the strange power of manifestos to the humbler magic of “write it, then do it,” he traces writing’s arc; from clay tokens and cuneiform to Gutenberg and the algorithmic now. Along the way: a darkly funny personal hospital saga, Civ-style empire building, the Unabomber’s troubling resonance, misinformation old and new, and why our inner reality keeps scripting our outer experience. Part history lesson, part manifesto about manifesting, this episode explores how text became tech; birthing memory, myth, control, rebellion, and the futures we dare to imagine.

  • S4E2 - From Farms to Pharaohs
    Jul 24 2025

What do James Clear, Jared Diamond, Cleopatra, and Patrick Swayze’s ghost have in common? Apparently, the Agricultural Revolution.

In this episode, I, Eric Lampaert, dive balls-deep into humanity’s leap from chasing chickens and eating mystery berries to planting seeds, building cities, and discovering pottery – the ancient equivalent of Tupperware. Guided by Civilization VI (yes, the video game), we’ll explore how farming and food surplus transformed scattered tribes into booming civilisations, birthed new roles from farmers to shamans, and, somehow, led to wet t-shirt contests.

This is history, chaos, comedy, and curiosity blended into one, with quotes from authors, scholars, and the occasional ghostly crooner.

Time to till the soil, fire up the kiln, and see how humans went from farms… to Pharaohs.

  • S4E1 - The Birth Of We The People
    Jun 21 2025

The world feels stranger every day; and if you’re sensing it too, you’re not alone. In this introductory episode to my Civilisation Crash Course, I explore how we were born in order to move towards some bigger questions: what does free will mean when algorithms shape our beliefs and moods? How do we navigate an increasingly authoritarian world without losing ourselves?

We’ll wrestle with questions of power, tolerance, identity, and what it means to be human in a world that demands we update ourselves like machines.

Featuring reflections on history, philosophy, and the cosmic perspective of Carl Sagan, this episode kicks off the Civilization Crash Course, a series about understanding humanity’s past to better grasp our future.

Tune in for truth, tangents, and maybe even some hope.
