Many people think Stoics have to constantly improve the world or even support the state/government. One reason: many conduse "society" and "state". Another: Ignorance of Stoic history.
Stoics were persecuted and banished by those in power even in ancient Rome. Small wonder, the absolute emphasis on virtue is always dangerous for those in power and undermines state authority.
