  • Exclusive (pt. 5): My “Chronic Illness” Journey
    Mar 22 2024
TW! DV, medical abuse and gaslighting, chronic illness and even poop talk. Sorry, not sorry. It’s par for the course. :) Although I harbor unexplored anger for most of the ways in which my ex wife abused me over the course of a decade, I’m oddly grateful for my journey with chronic illness that resulted from my ex trying to slowly kill me for both pleasure and for my sister’s $1 million in the bank. Perspective is everything. It took me nearly a year and a half to admit to the fact that my ex wife had done this, although it was suggested to me by many people upon my initial escape. But regardless, navigating the medical system gave me perspective and insight to a struggle that is very real and very traumatic, and I’ll always be grateful for what I’ve learned. And I’ll always try harder to believe lived experiences. So, here it is: A little about my chronic illness journey caused by my ex spouse intentionally making me sick. And please excuse the background noise and the throat clearing—I’m recording from my phone and can neither pause nor edit! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/appalachianrising/message

TW! Trauma and mention of CSA! TW! I was born with a port wine stain birthmark over my left cheek. Little did I know that after decades of hiding this physical fact about myself, it would later usher in the emergence of me being a more authentic version of myself.
