About this listen

Good morning. Alabama. I'm Michael Nally. Step outside and you'll feel that thick, sticky air. We soaked up nearly an inch of rain overnight. And those clouds are hanging tough this morning. Currently 62 degrees under gray skies. The showers that drenched us overnight are clearing out, but don't put that umbrella away. Scattered storms fire up this afternoon as a warm front lifts north. Down in Mobile, thunderstorms roll through early evening with highs hitting 76 degrees. Birmingham tops out at 73, while Huntsville reaches 72. Nothing severe today, but you'll want rain gear handy through late afternoon. Tonight stays muggy — lows only dip to the upper 50s inland, mid 60s along the coast. Patchy fog develops after midnight, especially south toward the Gulf. Monday afternoon brings a marginal severe threat, mainly north of I-85. Scattered storms pop between 1 P.M. and 7 P.M., with large hail the main concern. Not everyone sees storms, but if they fire up, they could pack a punch. Highs climb to the upper 70s. Tuesday turns gorgeous — mostly sunny with highs reaching the low 80s. That's 39 degrees above normal for early March. Enjoy it. Wednesday brings the big flip. A powerful cold front barrels through Wednesday evening with a squall line — damaging winds and heavy rain likely statewide. Behind that front, temperatures crash hard. Thursday's high only reaches the upper 50s. And Friday morning could see patchy frost with lows in the upper 30s. The weekend rebounds nicely. Sunshine returns Friday with highs in the upper 60s, climbing to the low 70s Saturday. Keep an eye on Monday afternoon if you're north of I-85. Those storms could get feisty. See you this afternoon.
