In this important lesson, Ustadh Mahad Dirie explains the eight categories of people entitled to receive ZAKĀH as defined by Allah in Sūrah At-Tawbah (9:60). From the poor and needy to debtors, zakāh administrators, those whose hearts are to be reconciled, for freeing a slave, those striving in the cause of Allah, and the stranded traveler.

This lesson clarifies who qualifies, who does not, and the conditions attached to each category. The lesson also addresses common misunderstandings, such as whether zakāh can be given to family members, counted as forgiven debt, or used for building mosques. A clear and practical breakdown to ensure your zakāh is distributed correctly — as an obligation prescribed by Allah, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
