"Wer zum ersten Mal nach Accra kommt, dem wird die Orientierung hier nicht gerade leichtfallen. Denn Accra ist eine Stadt fast, ohne Landmarks. Abgesehen von dem monumentalen Unabhängigkeitsdenkmal unten im Süden, am Meer und abgesehen von zwei eher unscheinbaren, aber hochaufragenden Sendemasten im Norden, gleich bei der größten N'krumah Circle genannten Kreuzung an die sich die Vergnügungsviertel mit ihren Nachtbars und Tanzlokalen anschließen.
