About this listen
Iowa City Transit is continuing its fare-free bus program. In its pilot year, ridership has increased by 50%. The 13 lines from Iowa City to Coralville have offered 1.5 million rides in the last fiscal year.
Then, Iowa City is at times, a parking frenzy. Iowa City’s City Council has approved lowering downtown meter fees from $3 to $2.25 an hour with a 6 to 1 vote.
Hope Minor, a fourth-year public health student, has experience riding public transportation and has endured the many changes to Iowa City and the University of Iowa’s parking departments over the last few years.
Above the Fold is hosted and produced by Madeleine Willis. Reporting from Evan Watson contributed to this episode.
