 Als Abbas vor 30 Jahren überraschend seine HIV-Diagnose bekam, hielt er sie für ein Todesurteil. Damals gab es noch keine wirksamen Medikamente gegen HIV. Heute ist Abbas verheiratet, hat zwei erwachsene Söhne und leitet als Koch eine Großküche. „Viele meiner Bekannten werden nicht glauben können, dass ich HIV-positiv bin, wenn sie mich in dieser Kampagne sehen“, sagt er. Warum nicht? „Sie sehen, dass es mir gut geht. Und sie glauben immer noch: Wer HIV hat, ist schon fast tot.“ Genau solchen Mythen will Abbas mit seinem Kampagnenauftritt entgegenwirken.
