An acronym is an abbreviation formed from the initial letters of other words and pronounced as a single word (e.g. ASCII, NASA ). In our world today, abbreviations and acronyms have become necessary in chat and SMS communication, primarily because such communication has been developed by the MIC for use by consumers.
