    Consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, Derriford hospital
    PhD in applied physiology, University College London 2013
    Prof of perioperative and intensive care, University of Plymouth
    Member of Caudwell Xtreme Everest expedition 2007
    Former Director of the UCL Centre for Altitude, Space and Extreme Environment Medicine
    In 2015 he was awarded Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), for services to the prevention of infectious diseases. This was the result of our work at the Royal Free Hospital in London, caring for patients with Ebola virus disease.
