Peggy Ann Freeman, also known professionally as Donyale Luna, achieved renown as an African American model and actress in the late 1960s, particularly in Western Europe. Often hailed as "the first Black supermodel," Luna broke barriers by gracing the cover of the British edition of Vogue in March 1966, marking a historic moment. She collaborated with Andy Warhol on several avant-garde films starting from 1965, and her notable appearances include roles in Otto Preminger's Skidoo (1968) and Federico Fellini's Satyricon (1969) following her role in the experimental film Qui êtes-vous, Polly Maggoo? (1966).
