In Las Vegas you have the Tournament of Champions featuring girls AAU from around the country such as MoKan EYBL 16U with players like Destiny Maze, Zoey Buckner-Franklin and in Louisville, Kentucky you have the TFN's Run 4 Roses Classic featuring teams like JYD Basketball Club, SoAssualt, CyFair Elite, CyFair Oklahoma, 2027 JYD Chartreuse Gold E40 and such players as Tycee Downey, Brooklyn Miles, Ava Slagle, Jhazzy Herron, Jazlynn Ezell, Riki McQuarters, and Makiya Moore just to name a few will be in action. Then we close out On This Day in 1948 at the age of 42 Satchel Paigefinally got his chance in Major League Baseball joining the Cleveland Indians. Becoming the oldest rookie in MLB history. He helped the Indians win a World Series that year.

  • The History of the WNBA

    Today on The Ride we take a look at the history of the WNBA and the founding players who helped shape the league into what it is today. The league was founded i n 1996 and began play in 1997 as the women's professional basketball league in the United States. In this episode we will look at the growth of the league over the years with teams relocating and rebranding. We will also look at the challenges the league faced such as competition for viewership, financial hurdles, and establishing a strong fanbase. Also we take a look at some of the players that help laid the groundwork for the league such as:
    1. Sheryl Swoops: often called female "Michael Jordan." Swoops was one of the league's first stars, playing for the Houston Comets and winning 4 consecutive MVP awards and 4 championships
    2. Lisa Lesie: A dominant center who played for the L Sparks, Leslie was the first woman to dunk in a WNBA game and helped propel the leagues popularity.
    3. Tamika Catchings: Known for her defense and versatility, Catchings was a longtime star for the Indiana Fever, winning the MVP award in 2011 and multiple championships.
    4. Sue Bird: A key figure for the Seattle Storm, Bird has been a leader on and off the court, winning multiple championships and Olympic medals.
    5. Diana Taurasi: Often called the "White Mamba," Taurasi has been one of the league's most prolific scorers and a central figure of the Phoenix Mercury.
    1. Candace Parker: A versatile star who has played for the LA Sparks and Chicago Sky, Parker has been a dominant force and league MVP.
    These players, among others helped establish credibility, inspire young athletes, and attract fans to the league. Their performance, leadership, and advocacy have been crucial in elevating the WNBA's profile. Can't overlook the impact and legacy Maya Moore left behind
