About this listen
This episode feels especially meaningful as we bring Season Three of Curious Travels by The Morbid Travel Guide to a close. Throughout this season, we explored death positivity, alternative burials, and dark tourism locations from New York City to Alaska. Your support and curiosity have meant so much to us.
Our thirteenth and final episode of 2025 looks at the Bloody Christmas events of Los Angeles in 1951, a moment of racial injustice that left deep wounds. The events of that night still remain a painful part of the Latino community’s history in Los Angeles and continue to be remembered today.
This episode also takes us to the quiet hillside of Forest Lawn Cemetery, where Edmund Gwenn, the actor who brought Santa Claus to life in Miracle on 34th Street, is laid to rest.
Placing these stories together reminded us why we create this podcast.
Dark tourism is not about shock but about listening, learning, and understanding the places where history’s light and darkness meet.
As we close this season, we are deeply grateful for everyone who has traveled with us. We will return in May 2026 with our first dark travel guide outside of the United States. Until then, we hope you enjoy our annual Christmas special and revisit the episodes that stayed with you.
We wish you all a happy holiday. Please don’t drink and drive.
