Зашто је Исус опрао Петрова стопала на дан пред празник Пасхе? Непосредно пре прања његових стопала, Исус је рекао, “Шта ја чиним ти сад не знаш, али ћеш после дознати.” Петар је био најбољи Исусов следбеник. Веровао је у Исуса Сина Божијег и сведочио је да Исус јесте Христос. Исус је опрао његова стопала и за то је имао добар разлог. Када је Петар признао своју веру да Исус јесте Христос, то је значило да он верује у Исуса као Спаситеља који ће га спасити од свих његових грехова.
