757 Landing in Antarctica

  • Summary

  • The first landing of a commercial Boeing 757 on a blue-ice runway in Antarctica occurred on November 26, 2015, at Union Glacier. The landing was a joint partnership between Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions (ALE), Loftleidir Icelandic, and NAS Corporation Limited (NAS).

Andrew Smith & NAS Corporation helped with organising the first commercial airline flight to Antarctica. Andrew Smith first started flying to Antarctica with Avient in 1997. Avient flew to the region for many years operating their own IL76.
