At first glance, there seem to be no similarities between the sci-fi series, Alien Earth (FX/Hulu), and the second season of Peacemaker (HBO). But both are offshoots of existing franchises, shepherded by creators with unique, and often, visceral styles.

To date Noah Hawley's Alien Earth has proven anything but predictable, while redefining the nature of "Alien" threats. Who knew a sheep could be that creepy.

Over in the DC universe, or in at least two of them, James Gunn is actively disproving the idea that the multiverse concept is played out. As he takes his flawed protagonist even further down by showing him the flipside of his own bad life choices.
