 马可福音 9:2-32, 出埃及 39-40, 诗篇 26, 根据千禧传媒Millennials的调查，如今50%的年轻人，他们的人生目标就是成名。过去，人们希望因取得成就而出名；但现在，人们纯粹是为了出名而出名。大众文化将名望视作神，对它顶礼膜拜。人们不但渴望出名，还崇拜名人。有些明星享受着神的尊荣，被人顶礼膜拜。 对于膜拜“成名”的人来说，名望就是盐水，喝得越多，渴得越厉害。麦当娜—— 她曾是地球上最出名的女星——说：“除非我和神一样有名，否则我就不会快乐。” 其实，名气和声望仅仅是真荣耀的一个苍白映像。在圣经中，“荣耀”被用来形容神显现时的状态，是圣经中最常见的词之一。神的“荣耀”意味着神的重要、声望、威严和尊贵。 当人们不再崇拜神的荣耀，它转去崇拜明星的“荣耀”就不足为奇了。虽然不能做到尽善尽美，神呼召我们敬拜并反映出他的荣耀。
