On this episode of K-Zone Baseball Development, hosts Jimi Keating and Hunter Wood sit down with Logan Hullette, the Recruiting Coordinator at Walters State Community College, one of the premier junior college baseball programs in the country.

Logan shares a behind-the-scenes look at the college recruiting process, what coaches are really looking for in high school players, and how athletes can separate themselves in an increasingly competitive recruiting landscape.

    The conversation dives into:
⚾ How Walters State evaluates and recruits players
⚾ What tools and intangibles college coaches prioritize
⚾ The biggest mistakes players make during recruiting
⚾ How JUCO baseball can be a powerful pathway to Division I programs

  • Episode 1: Inside the K-Zone — Who We Are, What We Teach, and What’s Coming
    Mar 3 2026

Welcome to K-Zone Baseball Development — and welcome to Episode 1.

In this kickoff episode, hosts Jimi Keating and Hunter Wood introduce who they are, what shaped them as players, and why they built a show centered on real development for serious ballplayers.

⚾ Meet Jimi Keating (Spalding University)

Jimi isn’t just a former college pitcher — he’s one of the most decorated arms in Spalding baseball history. At Spalding University, Jimi earned multiple All-American honors and was recognized as ABCA Central Region Pitcher of the Year and SLIAC First Team All-Conference, building a reputation as a competitor who mixed elite execution with a professional routine.
This episode covers what separated him on the mound: preparation, pitch development, strike-throwing, and the “one-percent better” mentality that turned talent into results.

⚾ Meet Hunter Wood (Western Kentucky)

Hunter brings the perspective of a high-level Division I program at Western Kentucky University, where he contributed as a catcher/designated hitter, including a season where he appeared in 41 games and started 29.
A switch-hitting catcher with real game experience, Hunter also earned recognition early in his college career through summer-ball honors — the kind of path many high school players are trying to navigate right now.

🔥 What this podcast is (and isn’t)

    • Recruiting truth — what matters and what doesn’t
    • Mindset, routines, leadership, and accountability
    • “Ask the Hosts” Q&A and real-world player problems

If you want to play at the next level, this podcast is built for you.
