Cuando leemos la genealogía de Jesucristo, vemos que mujeres gentiles como Rahab la prostituta y Ruth, la mujer moabita, eran parte de su ascendencia. La palabra gentil implica aquí ser pecador. Pero estas mujeres gentiles tenían fe en la gracia de Dios. Creyeron en la Palabra de Dios y sus siervos. La genealogía de Jesús nos muestra la sucesión de la fe. De la misma manera, María era una mujer de fe. Un ángel le dijo a María que concebiría a un Hijo y que lo llamaría Jesús. Así que María le dijo al ángel: «¿Cómo puede ser esto si todavía no he conocido hombre?».
