Поскольку Давид, отец Соломона, был угоден Богу и верил в него, управляя своим народом, Бог не проклял самого Соломона, но вместо него проклял его сына, чтобы сдержать Своё обетование, данное Давиду. Из 12 колен Израиля Бог отнял 10 и отдал их другому человеку, а не сыну Соломона. Этим другим человеком был Иеровоам. Бог отдал Иеровоаму 10 из 12 колен Израиля из-за того, что Соломон поклонялся другим богам. Дела Соломона принесли ему большое несчастье.
