About this listen

Do you stare at the sea of toys of junk in your children's room and just want to burn it all? Are you wishing there was a way to restore peace and order without being eaten by guilt at those sad little faces? Does the chaos in your child's room look like your spirit feels? If so, you’re in the right place. Hi, I’m Cheryl - Wife, girl mom, and Jesus follower. I learned the not-so-secret ways to become the mom my girls needed by prioritizing Jesus back into life, rejecting mom guilt, and discovering what self-esteem really is. If you’re ready to build faith while washing dishes, rediscover your identity and love yourself like your babies do - grab your earbuds and lock the bathroom door for a minute alone, it’s Time for Mom. In this episode, I’m sharing physical and spiritual decluttering tips so you can make room for Jesus and those new goodies as we move into the new year. 3 Guilt-Free Pre-Christmas (or Post-Christmas) Decluttering Questions: Was this toy broken? Was this toy fixable or beyond hope of repair? Was this actual garbage? What toys did the girls not play with or had grown out of? What did we just not have room for? Would it kill or traumatize my children if I got rid of them (the toys, not the kids)? What was the benefit of decluttering for my kids? They didn’t miss what was broken, outgrown, or impractical. With less clutter, they rediscovered joy in what remained. Simplicity made play and cleanup easier, not paralyzing. How often do I refuse God's gifts because I don't want to lose what I have? How often am I like Bethlehem, grousing at noisy shepherds instead of celebrating the gift of the awaited Messiah because the change was very inconvenient? 7 ways can you make room for Jesus in the New Year: Declutter – Physically and Spiritually. This goes hand in hand with sitting in silence. Memorize a verse and meditate on it. Repeat the process throughout the year. Read or listen to your Bible. Set aside time to worship the Lord.
