Сегодняшний отрывок из Писания — это Иоанна 18:25-45. В то время в Израиле первосвященники сменялись каждый год, и в тот год первосвященником был Каиафа. Иисуса сначала повели к Анне, тестю Каиафы, а оттуда — к самому Каиафе. Народ израильский придавал большое значение различным праздникам, не говоря уже о дне субботнем. Фактически Иисуса арестовали и допрашивали именно накануне такого праздника, как раз в ночь перед Пасхой, после того как он провёл со Своими учениками Тайную вечерю.
