سمُر نہ کی کلِیسیا کی بنیاد رکھی گئی تھی جب پولوس اِفسُس کی کلیسیامیں خدمت کر رہاتھا۔ مذکورہ بالاعبارت کے مطابق ، اِس کلیسیاکے اراکین غریب تھے ، جنکی ، اُنکے ایمان کی وجہ سے ، اُن کی برادری کے یہودی مخالفت کرتے تھے۔ یہودیوں کے ذریعہ اِس کلیسیا پر کتنا ظلم کِیا گیا ،کلیسیا کے فادرز کے دور میں ایک نگران، پولی کارپ کی شہادت سے دیکھا جاسکتا ہے۔ ابتدائی کلیسیا کےمقدسین کو یہودی ایمانداروں سے مستقل ظلم و ستم کا سامنا کرنا پڑا جنہوں نے مسیح کو اپنا مسیحا ماننے سے انکار کیا۔
