En el pasaje de las Escrituras de hoy podemos ver que Dios se le apareció a Abraham, nuestro antecesor de la fe, y le dijo: «Dijo también Dios a Abraham: A Sarai tu mujer no la llamarás Sarai, mas Sara será su nombre. Y la bendeciré, y también te daré de ella hijo; sí, la bendeciré, y vendrá a ser madre de naciones; reyes de pueblos vendrán de ella» (Génesis 17, 15-16). Dios dijo que le daría a Abraham un hijo con su mujer Sara, que era infértil. Entonces Abraham contestó: “Estaría bien que mi hijo Ismael viviese ante Ti y creciese bien y heredase mi linaje. Entiendo que me estás consolando. Aprecio tu amor. Gracias”.
