Сьогоднішній уривок зі Святого Письма взятий з Матвія 17:1-13. Тут написано, що Ісус узяв із Собою трьох учнів, Петра, Якова та Івана, і привів їх до високої гори. Там трапилося щось надзвичайне. Мойсей та Ілля зійшли з Неба. Одяг Ісуса став сліпуче білий, а все Його тіло також цілком перемінилося. Ісус розмовляв з Мойсеєм та Іллею. Побачивши це, Петро замріяно сказав: «Дозволь нам зробити три намети: один для Тебе, інший для Мойсея, а ще інший для Іллі. Ми хочемо зробити три намети і жити біля Тебе». Тоді хмара покрила небо і голос з неї промовив: «Це Син Мій Улюблений, що Його Я вподобав!»
