 La storia di Inés e Pietro avrebbe tutto per essere considerata il classico cliché del colpo di fulmine: s'incontrano, si piacciono e si amano per tutta la vita. Peccato però che questo incontro avvenga al matrimonio di Pietro con un'altra donna e che Inés fosse la dama di compagnia di quest'ultima. Amante, moglie, madre: Inés de Castro è stata questo e tanto altro ancora. A causa del suo assassinio il Portogallo rischiò di autodistruggersi in una guerra civile che vide un padre e un figlio cercare di annientarsi.
