Summary
This This episode (2026 (8)) of 'Asthma with Experts' on World Asthma Day 2026 is hosted by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA), and features a discussion with Professor Guy Brusselle, Chairman of the GINA Board of Directors on his thoughts about asthma. Prof Brusselle shares his thoughts about the current problems faced by adults who have asthma. Key issues include i) getting the diagnosis right as early as possible, and ii) the use of a single inhaler containing an inhaled corticosteroid and a quick acting, long acting bronchodilator (formoterol) for relief of symptoms as well as maintenance therapy. In this way the inflammation caused by asthma is dealt with at the same time as relieving symptoms. He also mentioned the new changes in GINA 2026 in managing severe asthma and emphasised the new changes in severe asthma management, in addition to checking biomarkers, to identify and manage co-morbid conditions such as rhinosinusitis , nasal polyposis, atopic dermatitis and eosinophylic oesophagitis.
