In quello stesso periodo l'azienda è impegnata in un caso simile, la richiesta di creazione di una backdoor, una "porta sul retro", cioè un modo per accedere a un iPhone bloccato superando il codice impostato da chi lo possiede. «Ci opponiamo a quest’ordine, che ha implicazioni che vanno ben oltre il caso legale in questione»: nel 2016 l’amministratore delegato di Apple Tim Cook spiega in un comunicato perché l’azienda è contraria a craccare un iPhone a fini investigativi, anche se a chiederlo è l’FBI, che sta cercando di aprire il telefono di due persone responsabili di un attentato terroristico.
