Fondamentale per la transizione energetica, viene usato per le batterie di smartphone e tablet ma ben il 70% del metallo viene usato per costruire batterie per le auto elettriche. Il Cile è il secondo esportatore di litio al mondo ma l’estrazione del metallo causa una fortissima siccità. Oggi le popolazioni indigene del deserto di Atacama sono in lotta contro le imprese che estraggono il litio e sono disposti a morire pur di non lasciare le terre che abitano da millenni.
