Стих 1-й: «Ангелу Ефесской церкви напиши: так говорит Держащий семь звезд в деснице Своей, Ходящий посреди семи золотых светильников».
Ефесская церковь была церковью Божьей, воздвигнутой по вере в Евангелие воды и Духа, которое проповедовал Апостол Павел. «Семь золотых светильников» здесь подразумевают церкви Божьи, собрания тех, кто веруют в Евангелие воды и Духа. «Семь звезд» обозначают слуг Божьих. Слова «Держащий семь звезд в деснице Своей» означают, что Сам Господь руководит действиями Своих слуг.
