 Las primeras semanas de Alfonsín en el gobierno fueron muy vertiginosos: se derogó la ley de autoamnistía, se inició la estrategia judicial para juzgar a los militares, se creó la Conadep para investigar lo sucedido durante la dictadura y se envió una ley al Congreso para democratizar a los sindicatos. Todos estos acontecimientos marcaron el rumbo del gobierno en el año 1984.
