  • Top Ten of 2025
    Jan 12 2026
New year, new list! It's been another whole year of KFLX, so the guys are counting down their top songs of 2025! Lots of great movies and songs were released last year, but technically the guys can choose from any music that was *new to them* during the process of recording last year, which may lead to some fun surprises. • Get Crazy
    Dec 29 2025
It's a New Years movie! "Get Crazy" is a wild and spoofy film that we had never heard of, but it's the perfect way to end the year. This is awesome 80s goodness featuring a young Daniel Stern as he tries to put together a concert to save the Saturn Theatre. It features acts such as Reggie Wanker – a smug British solo rocker, Captain Cloud – leader of a hippie collective, King Blues – writer of many famous Blues tunes, Nada – a new wave/glam rock act, and Auden – a singer/songwriter who looks suspiciously like Lou Reed, and we're covering all of their music and more in our final episode of 2025! 🌐 https://fictionradiopod.com 📺 https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5m4ZexCk3CIQCSRfrn016rzUMZbckidQ&si=4Y69FgIdE45rKYnDAll 📷 https://www.instagram.com/kflxfictionradio/ 📧 FictionRadioPod@gmail.com

  • Love Actually
    Dec 15 2025

At Christmas, you tell the truth...

And the truth is, we're covering "Love Actually" this week in the first episode of the holiday season. This movie of intertwined character pieces is full of dated takes on dating in the early-2000s UK, but we're going to zero in on one very important cover song that ties all the stories together: Billy Mack’s gloriously cynical Christmas cover of The Troggs’ “Love Is All Around.” We’ll unwrap several other versions of the song as well as take a listen to Bill Nighy’s surprisingly extensive singing résumé!

  • Rock Star
    Dec 1 2025

What happens when a superfan gets called up to sing for their favorite heavy metal band?

A kinda...kinda weird movie happens. Mark Wahlberg is the titular "Rock Star" in this 2001 film that was largely overshadowed by a national tragedy. We're digging into Marky Mark, as well as a number of real-life voices behind the singing in this movie, which is sort of based on a true story. And yeah, we have another one of those near-misses when trying to suss out the inspiration for one of the tunes. Can you help us?!

  • Almost Famous
    Nov 17 2025

This episode is more fun than an emotionally charged summer road trip with a famous band in the 1970s!

We're doing Cameron Crowe again this week, this time with the 2000 film "Almost Famous" and the band at the heart of it - Stillwater! We'll cover all the nods to other 70s rockers – intended or not – plus get some behind-the-scenes info on how these songs came together with the help of Peter Frampton, and Nancy Wilson from Heart. Also, as with our last Crowe flick, there is a grunge element.

Plus, caller Aviv Rubenstien hits us with an absolute deluge of Almost Famous facts and goodies!

  • KFLX Classic: Trick or Treat
    Nov 3 2025

It’s still Halloween in our hearts! Enjoy this classic from last year and we’ll be back soon with new episodes!

This week we explore the depths of hair metal horror with the "Trick or Treat" from 1986. This classic from the Satanic Panic era has everything: A slasher villain with a set of pipes, Gene Simmons putting on his acting boots, and lots of weaponized electricity. We also help Shawn's friend Lard Humungus get to the bottom of his demon problem. And yep, this one has a quiz.

  • Halloween Mix Tape
    Oct 27 2025
Spooky season continues! Shawn and Dustin have brewed up the perfect mixtape for your Halloween party! We're running through a monster mash of fictional artists, starting with some greasy, shirtless sax appeal from "The Lost Boys" (1987). Then, we're attending Tracy Jordan's spooky, scary "Werewolf Bar Mitzvah" from "30 Rock." After that, we'll see what happens when indie rockers Low Shoulder from "Jennifer's Body" (2009) make a deal with the devil. We'll then head to the Titty Twister to catch a set from the vampiric house band Tito & Tarantula from "From Dusk til Dawn" (1996). And of course, no Halloween is complete without a spellbinding performance from The Sanderson Sisters in "Hocus Pocus" (1993). So light your jack-o'-lanterns and press play! 🌐 https://fictionradiopod.com 📺 https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5m4ZexCk3CIQCSRfrn016rzUMZbckidQ&si=4Y69FgIdE45rKYnDAll 📷 https://www.instagram.com/kflxfictionradio/ 📧 FictionRadioPod@gmail.com
