About this listen

The 1925 Serum Run was a heroic dog sled relay across Alaska to deliver diphtheria antitoxin to Nome. A diphtheria outbreak threatened the town, and with no other transportation available in the harsh winter conditions, a team of 20 mushers and 150 sled dogs braved treacherous weather and terrain to transport the life-saving serum over 674 miles in just 5.5 days. This incredible feat saved the lives of countless people in Nome leading an Iditarod Legend to start the World's greatest sled dog race.
