About this listen
Ki-Mira
The word is usually spelled "chimera." It can refer a beast from Greek mythology, but it this case it means an illusion, something that seems grander or more important than it is. To "chase a chimera" is to follow an illusion with no real reward.
- (in Greek mythology) a fire-breathing female monster with a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail.
- a thing that is hoped or wished for but in fact is illusory or impossible to achieve.
- "the economic sovereignty you claim to defend is a chimera"
