#14: The Parnell Dynasty - with Gemma Parnell

  • Summary

  • This week's episode was a first for the podcast as my guest, Gemma Parnell, joined me in the 'studio' to record the episode face-to-face.

Despite enjoying many chats with Gemma in the past, I had no idea about her illustrious ancestors of the nineteenth century. This formed a major part of the podcast as I learnt about former MP, Charles Parnell, and his sister, Anna, who was campaigning for women's rights long before the suffragettes came on the scene. Appropriately, as a tribute to Anna, this episode was recorded on the 111th anniversary of her death.

Other topics discussed included the importance of keeping community connections or forming new ones when your life circumstances change, for example, becoming a parent or moving to another town.
