About this listen

In January 1892, a 19-year old named Mercy Brown was lost to an illness, now understood to be consumption. Her death remains the most documented case of the New England Vampire Panic: a wave of religious and spiritual hysteria in response to an outbreak of tuberculosis. Today, Mercy is known as The Last Vampire of New England.
