In this episode of "Everything's Messy Podcast", I’m getting real about something I live with every single day: chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, and how peptide therapy might fit into the healing journey. We’re in the middle of the Christmas season, schedules are packed, stress is high, and our bodies are quietly trying to wave the red flag… so let’s talk about it.
I break down inflammation in simple, real-life terms: inflammation is the fire, the signal that something is off in the body. Then I layer in oxidative stress as the gasoline – the internal “rust” that happens when we’re overloaded with toxins, stress, blood sugar swings, poor sleep, and all the things we like to pretend aren’t a big deal. Acute inflammation can be helpful. Chronic inflammation? That’s the sneaky, exhausting kind that quietly fuels heart disease, autoimmune conditions, hormone chaos, blood sugar instability, weight resistance, fatigue, and brain fog. Check, check, check… I’m right there with you. 🙋♀️
I share honestly about my own journey as a type 1 diabetic, heart attack survivor, and professional data-nerd of my own body. My labs have said “normal” while my body was screaming absolutely not. I talk about the frustration of “doing everything right” and still feeling inflamed, exhausted, and stuck—and that emotional moment of admitting how terrified I am of having another heart attack. This isn’t a polished wellness highlight reel. This is the messy middle.
Then we add the third layer: peptide therapy—and no, I’m not talking about GLP-1s. I explain what peptides actually are (short-chain amino acids that act like targeted messengers) and how they can help support repair and regulation after we’ve started addressing lifestyle. I touch on options like BPC-157 for gut repair and systemic inflammation, Thymosin Alpha-1 and Thymosin Beta-4 for immune modulation and tissue healing, and MOTS-C as a mitochondrial and longevity-supporting peptide I’ll personally be experimenting with. I’m very clear: peptides are tools, not shortcuts. They don’t replace movement, real food, sleep, or inner work—and they should always be used with guidance, labs, and supervision. More is not better.
Throughout the episode, I keep coming back to this truth: we are not broken. Inflammation and oxidative stress are not failures of your body—they are responses to the information you’ve been giving it. Your symptoms are not random, and you’re not crazy just because your CBC came back “normal.” Your body is talking to you through sore joints, stubborn fatigue, gut issues, mood swings, sleep struggles, and fear. Our work is to listen, remove the assaults, and support the systems that are trying so hard to keep us alive.
I wrap things up with some messy, doable action steps you can take right now—especially in this busy holiday season where none of us want another “perfect protocol” to fail:
choose one better meal, one earlier bedtime, or one day of nervous system reset. That’s it. One tiny bite of the rhinoceros at a time. 🦏
If you’re in the thick of it, feeling frustrated, inflamed, and exhausted but still hopeful, this episode is for you. You are not alone, you’re not broken, and we are going to keep finding strength through the mess—together. 💛
