Do Slavie se mu nechtělo. „Obával jsem se konkurence, pochyboval jsem, jestli se prosadím a budu hrát. Dokonce jsem si dal do smlouvy klauzuli, že kdyby mě Slavia poslala někam na hostování, pak jedině zpátky do Plzně,“ vrátil se Robert Vágner u mikrofonu Sportu.cz třicet let zpátky do minulosti, kdy přemýšlel, zda na nabídku kývnout a do Edenu přestoupit. „Pak jsem si řekl, že by byla možná chyba to nezkusit. A teď po letech můžu říct, že to byl dobrý krok.“
