  • #012 Keep your competitors CLOSE
    Nov 27 2024

Initially hired by a friend to step in for a wedding photographer who had dishonestly sold their services using someone else's portfolio, Sam Meggs found himself thrust into a genre he had no prior experience of.

What began as a one-off favour became a defining creative moment. Over a decade later from that day, Sam now runs a successful business in Ontario, a popular Canadian go-to destination for couples.

We talk about that initial start, how his new photographic career blossomed and why working in your community alongside and with your competitors is a strong business decision.

The show starts with a story of why signature images are your strongest USP, plus last week's guest Rahul Khona shares his Story of the Completely Unexpected.

  • #011 Drown out the NOISE: you do you!
    Nov 20 2024

The noise online, the posts and humble bragging can leave you wondering why everyone else has it so right, and you have it so wrong. It's exhausting, isn't it? London-based UK and destination wedding photographer Rahul Khona talks about surviving social media whilst building a thriving wedding photography business, part of our conversation today.

One-half of the 9-Dots wedding photography training community leadership team, he talks about the importance of finding a network of like-minded creatives, plus in the Story behind the Story, Rahul shares pictures of a more personal nature.

The show starts with a story of negotiation, something waters that all creatives find comfortable to navigate, plus candid wedding photographer Paul Waring shares his Story of the Completely Unexpected.

  • #010 The unexpected wedding gift
    Nov 13 2024

David McClelland in Ireland is my lead photographer guest today, and as he too approaches that twenty-year mark behind the lens, he shares a raft of stories about what he’s learned shooting weddings. We talk about the documentary sense of his picture-making and discuss how photographs of what could be considered an unremarkable moment, can become the greatest unexpected wedding gift. It’s sometimes all about legacy.

New York based wedding photographer Amy Milstein returns to share her Story of the Completely Unexpected.
