המאה ה-21 נפתחה בסערה עם בהלה סביב באג 2000, המתקפה על מגדלי התאומים, התפוצצות בועת הדוט.קום ואז התפוצצות בועת הסאב-פריים.
אבל עד כה האירוע הגלובלי הגדול ביותר של המאה ה-21, שלא ברור אם יהיה גדול ממנו, הוא מגפת הקורונה.
הקורונה היתה המגפה המתועדת בהיסטוריה ובמהלכה הופצצנו במספרים: כמה חולים יש, כמה מאושפזים, מונשמים, מתים, כמה חיסונים ניתנו, מה המרחק שצריך לשמור בין אדם לאדם, כמה זמן צריך להישאר בבידוד – עוד ועוד מספרים.
לכאורה כל המספרים האלו היו אמורים לסייע לנו ליצור קונצנזוס, להסכים על העובדות. בפועל ההפך קרה.
