Bueno, si bien es mucho más complejo que eso, dicho de forma breve, es el efecto cognitivo a través del cual, entre más ignoramos un tema, lo vemos o pensamos más sencillo de lo que en realidad es. A través de este efecto, las personas se pueden ver a sí mismas sobrecalificadas para desempeñar roles o funciones de las cuales ignoran mucho, y por eso lo creen sencillo. Un ejemplo es el siguiente: si Panchito no tiene ni la más remota idea de todos los procesos teóricos, estadísticos y metodológicos que implica diseñar y analizar correctamente una encuesta, Panchito podría llegar a creer erróneamente que es un proceso sumamente sencillo y que él mismo podría hacerlo con envidiable sencillez.
