    Retired OPP Sergeant John Flesher's life suddenly changed in June, 2024 when he was struck from behind by a vehicle while riding his motorcycle. John was left with life altering injuries. John joins the 10-5 Podcast to discuss his journey of reslience and recovery, and stress the need to have accidental death and dismemberment insurance, a power of attorney for personal care and property, and a will.

    Laura Ferron is the Senior Advisor, Pension and Benefits at the Ontario Provincial Police Association. Laura joins the 10-5 Podcast to explain in detail the accidental death and dismemberment insurance coverage available to OPP Association members and give some tips on powers of attorney and wills.

    Retired Sudbury Detective Sergeant Jordan Buchanan joins 10-5 The Official Podcast of the OPP Association to speak about his service with Sudbury Police and his secondment to OPP GHQ working with the early start up of the Violent Crime Linkage Analysis System, known as the ViCLAS, in the 1990's. He also touches on his experience as a Forensic Polygraph Examiner, and his newly released fictional novel "Past Ghosts Echoed" that is based on real cases and policing in Sudbury. Some of the themes of the cases in the book relate to an unsolved line of duty death of a police officer, using DNA to solve a cold case and a biker gang investigation.   • Free Ball Hockey Program for Kids at Caledon OPP

    OPP Provincial Constable Jesse Nobleman and Charlene Randall from the Peel Children's Aid Society (Peel CAS) are guests on Episode 141 of 10-5 The Official Podcast of the OPP Association.

    The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)'s Caledon detachment and Peel Children’s Aid Society are proud to present a free ball hockey program in partnership with House of Hockey, a Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) Foundation community program.

    This 5-week program is open to Caledon residents, ages 8-15, and runs Thursdays at 5:30 to 7:30 pm between July 31 – August 28, 2025.

    All necessary equipment will be provided, absolutely free, and participants of all skill levels are welcome. Learn about the fundamentals of ball hockey from experienced coaches, including some with OHL, PWHL and international hockey experience, with other key life skills mixed in.

    The program is hosted at the Caledon OPP Detachment at 15924 Innis Lake Road, Caledon East, ON L7C 2Z1.

    Free parking and refreshments will be available on site.

    This is the third year running that Peel CAS has been named a site for MLSE Foundation’s House of Hockey League. To date thexPeel CAC has run hockey programs specifically for youth involved with their agency. This is the first time the program is being offered to all youth in the Caledon community, in partnership with OPP.
