  • A Year Of Fireworks Factory : 1 More Thing Podcast (#31)
    Dec 23 2025

December 23 2024: The date we announced our first Mixmas winner - Fireworks Factory.

Neither he, or we, had ANY idea what would follow this announcement. He was only meant to win a DJ set, instead he's become a core member of our creative collective and has had a profound and very positive influence on the brand. We've released his music, twice, and done quite a few more shows than the single gig he was promised and we have so much more to do in 2026 and beyond.

But first we look back over the year he's had and the journey we've shared. From my cringey over-excited first interview with him exactly a year ago all the way through to his recent single Back To U / Infinite Crashing Wave, this extensive interview maps out and explores the trip we've been on both from Max's perspective as an emergent new generation artist and from my perspective as a new label that is purposefully going against the grain at a time when a huge amount of the industry seems obssessed with only profits, metrics and maintaining an increasingly depressing status quo.

Despite the raw reality of the current world, 1 More Thing remains a fresh, inclusive, community-minded space that encourages new ideas, urges its crew to break rules and insists on doing things differently. We know that Max Fireworks Factory shares those ethics too and that vision, too.

December 23 2025: The date we celebrate this chance encounter and ongoing collaboration with a unique podcast. A must-watch for any new artist hoping to breakthrough right now. Enjoy!

  • 1 More Thing Podcast #030: Dysfunction - Donk, Eclecticism and ADHD
    Dec 4 2025

For our latest deep discussion Dave Columbo welcomes Dysfunction, a fellow Welsh DJ and advocate of the more extreme outposts of the musical multi-verse.

A long-time friend of the platform but now fully fledged crew; following months of Demo Drop contributions and a legendary donk b2b at a Twitch convention, Dysfunction made their label debut with Confusion EP in November 2025. The EP dropped just days before we recorded this conversation, documenting that strange era of suspense, excitement and fear that comes just before a release.

This conversation goes super deep as Cai shares their origin story, their encyclopedic knowledge of music and theory-trained roots, how they embrace their ADHD as a creative artist and how their mental health has improved over the years.

Loaded with all kinds of technical talk along the way, this chat does not hold back. And there are a few little jump-scares along the way, too!

Check out Dysfunction's Confusion EP. Out now on 1 More Thing.

  • From Memphis to Mumbai: Imaganimatrix is fusing dance styles on a whole new level (1MT Podcast 29)
    Oct 28 2025

We're proud to share with you our first podcast with a street dancer. Get to know Imaganimatrix, India's first certified Memphis Jookin practitioner!

Imaganimatrix came into our world through Quentin Hiatus when he commissioned these two incredible videos to help us promote our release with him this summer.

We were so inspired by his moves and his gravity defying art, we called him up to find out about his journey and how a kid from the east got so inspired by a style from the west.

We left knowing so much more. This is a unique story of an artist who is fusing his own path and style between two highly expressive worlds that are thousands of kilometres awway in reality but maybe not so far away physically, creatively and soulfully.

    Get to know!

  • Addiction, compassion & empathy : in conversation with Sahala & Diligent Fingers (1 More Thing Podcast 28)
    Oct 15 2025

Sending out love and strength to everyone who is personally fighting addiction or supporting someone they love through addiction.

This is a unique and very special interview.

Caedubs & Sahala's Calling Out Your Name is as personal as any song can get. A heartfelt homage from daughter to mother, pleading with her and with the universe for calm and clarity, it hits hard with raw soul, love and compassion. You can feel and hear the trauma being released with every single lyric.

Released on Diligent Fingers' Spynal Records, this is the type of backbone we want to see so much more of in our music and culture.

Dave joined Dili and Sahala to find out more and create a space where we could discuss such a deep and heartbreaking topic and celebrate the power of music and how it allows us to unleash those emotions that society makes us surpress. Covering all aspects of compassion, empathy and how to embrace those emotions ourselves as writers and creators, this interview mines for light in some very dark places.

These type of messages and this type of support is what we're here for and what we want to create space for. If anything in this conversation resonates with you please share your thoughts in the comments.

Huge love to Sahala, Cae and Dili. Please support Calling Out Your Name

  • Fight Or Flight: The inspiring label dedicated to fighting brain cancer. 1 More Thing Podcast 27
    Oct 7 2025

In May 2019 Matt Toole was diagnosed with a Stage 4 glioblastoma, a form of malignant brain tumor. He was told that the average life expectancy for people in his situation was 18 months.

September 2025, Matt is more present, inspired, motivated and determined than ever. Since his initial diagnosis and treatment he's returned to his work as a music teacher, he has a young family and, alongside his brother Adam, he makes music as Soul Bass Project.

Together they also run one of the most unique labels in bass music - Fight Or Flight Recordings. A label that exists purely to raise awareness and funds for the Brain Tumor Charity. Launched June 2020 with a VA compilation Survival Is Instinct, the label has gone on to raise almost £3000 so far and they're planning to raise more in the future.

Following a recent fundraiser at False Relation's Contrary Motions event in Leicester, Matt and Adam join our host Dave Columbo Jenkins to explain about their musical roots, their creative process and how they've found light and inspiration during some of the hardest of times.

  • 1 More Thing Podcast #026 : Billain
    Sep 4 2025

The podcast returns! And for this one we've invited a genuinely unique and forward-thinking figure - Billain.

Something of a lone figure in drum & bass, Bosnian Billain goes into epic levels of detail with every release musically, visually and narratively. Amid his previous albums and EPs like Collosus, Lands Unbreached and Nomad's Revenge he's created, scripted and built an entire universe with its own lore, culture and characters.

Drum & bass, sci-fi and a thirst for future tech and pushing things forward have always been incredibly close but Billain smelts this fusion down at brave new temperatures. It's why his short movie Fugitive has won over 30 awards and is still invited to film festivals three years after it was launched.

Now it's time to find out where his third album Mirror fits into this universe and cannon of creative adventures, how it came to life and the whole creative process and context behind it. Even in the short time that's passed since his last album - Lands Unbreached - dropped in 2022 the world, the ecomony and life has changed so much... Does this global turbulence draw us deeper into Billain's universe or is he taking a step back from it himself?

As he settles down and makes himself at home on Magnetude and Task Horizon's Evolution Chamber imprint, Billain reflects on everything that's brought us to this moment and everything that challenges us as creatives. From industry standardisation and conservatism to the ironies of having the most creative DJ kit imaginable but tracks still having to fit the demands of DJs via the importance of community. Most notably his own thriving Cyberneuro community.

If ever there was a polymath in drum & bass, it's this cat. And this summer he's actually had his cream as he was finally booked as one of the main headliners for the dnb mother fest Let It Roll.

We reflect on all of this and plenty more. Billain is forthright, philosophical and loaded with fresh ideas and perspectives (plus plenty of dry humour). This is an immense and very thought provoking conversation. Hope you enjoy it!

  • Deconstructing Delirium : DJ Persuasion (1 More Thing Podcast 025)
    Jul 25 2025

Delirium is a word thrown around so eagerly throughout electronic music history but do we understand how much weight that word carries and what delirium truly is?

And why has the mindstate of delirium and any associated connotations of losing control been so deeply attached to woven into dance music and rave vocabulary and culture for all these years?

This is a fascinating conversation. It's one led by DJ Persuasion who has had first hand experience in this area following a severe accident three years ago.

Persuasion - also known as Semtek - has spent a long time considering his experience and how his earlier escapades in fields DJing and raving in an altered mindstate have helped him understand and contextualise what he's been through. It's also had an affect on his music.

Cue: Delirium a brand new single from DJ Persuasion on Fear E's Breakbeat Energy imprint. A powerful homage to the foundational era of hardcore that has been written since Persuasion's experiences, the release acts as a perfect spring board for such a unique, fascinating and at points traumatising conversation.

    Content Warning:

During this hour we talk in detail about drug use, mental health, intensive care treatment and the experience of suffering delirium while being in an induced coma. If these are triggering to you, please be aware and listen with caution.

To understand more about intensive care delirium please read this article: https://royalpapworth.nhs.uk/our-hospital/latest-news/intensive-care-delirium

  • 1 More Thing Podcast #024 : Jordana
    Jun 16 2025

Next up in our series of deep conversations with bass music's most inspiring souls, we get to connect with a true soldier of the North American drum & bass jungle movement and celebrate Pride month in the process.

    Please welcome Jordana!!

Initially operating as 1.8.7, Jordana represented the genre in some unparalleled places, setting some incredibly high benchmarks as both as a DJ and as a producer. From making her production debut with a remix of Blondie to being a Mixmag cover star and even being the first drum & bass artist to appear on MTV, her contributions to the culture were nothing short of pioneering... Despite facing consistent challenges, exclusion, blocking and outright hate as a black trans artist.

Sadly as the 2000s entered, Jordana experienced some of the most horrendous trauma imaginable and had to take a long time away from the music to heal. Thankfully she's back and, as her lyrics on her latest single declare, she's here to slay.

Don't call this a comeback because Jordana never chose to leave. She almost lost her life for this. And since 2020, she's been reclaiming her title as one of the very earliest US drum & bass artists to breakdown boundaries and take the underground to ears who needed to hear it.

And now you need to hear her story.

In one of our most indepth and emotionally hard-hitting discussions so far, Jordana shares her musical journey to host and 1 More Thing founder Dave Columbo Jenkins. From the wild highs to the utterly traumatic and heart-breaking lows, all set to the constant adversity the trans community face day to day, Jordana is refreshingly honest and candid about the scene, the politics and how we can all be more understanding, empathatic and supportive of each other and make this culture a safer space.

    This is essential listening!
