今日の聖句には、イエスがテベリヤの湖の向こう岸に行かれたとき、大勢の人の群れがイエスにつき従っていたと書かれています。非常に大勢の人々がイエスにつき従った理由は、イエスが病人たちになさっていたしるしを見ていたからでした。イエスは山に登り、弟子たちとともにそこに座られたとき、この大勢の人の群れがご自分のほうに来るのを見て、ピリポにおっしゃいました。「どこからパンを買って来て、この人々に食べさせようか。」 すると、ピリポはイエスに答えました。「めいめいが少しずつ取るにしても、二百デナリのパンでは足りません。」
