 Il 21 agosto del 1935 è considerato da molti la data di inizio dell'era dello Swing, con la prima esibizione di Benny al Palomar di Los Angeles. Da lì in poi fu un continuo crescendo, fino al famoso concerto del 1938 alla Carnegie Hall, che consacra ufficialmente il Jazz come nuova forma di espressione musicale e Benny Goodman come il re dello Swing.
