In this third episode, Dr Shahreen Raihana discusses her research exploring the associated factors, inequalities and adverse outcomes of delayed initiation of breastfeeding in low- and middle-income countries. Shahreen outlines critical factors to consider in improving timely initiation of breastfeeding and how health managers can engage, inform and empower women with understanding the dangers of delaying breastfeeding. Dr Shahreen highlights the importance to create a supportive pro-breastfeeding environment around the time of childbirth, particularly for institutional births.
