Die Idee zum "Kellerradio" kam Philipp Kersting während des Corona-Lockdowns 2020. Er entwarf ein privates Web-Radio für Familie und Freunde, um sich in Zeiten sozialer Distanz einander näher zu fühlen. Für die Pilotfolge hat er seinen Sohn Tom Kersting als Co-Moderator dazu geholt.
